Telangana plans to extend its breakfast programme to all government schools and junior colleges, with education officials putting the proposed reach at nearly 22 lakh students. The reported expansion involves 39 community-kitchen locations and an estimated Rs 299.9 crore for construction and upgrades. Officials said the state would fund about 70% of the capital cost, with partner organisations covering the rest. These figures remain reported plans; no public sanction order, tender or kitchen-wise list was located.
The current programme is reported to cover 1,269 government schools and 33 junior colleges in eight districts, serving about 1.44 lakh students through community kitchens. Another report put the current reach at nearly two lakh after kitchens at Madhira and Manthani were commissioned. The arithmetic, like the timetable, is still being assembled in public.
The government’s own Wanaparthy district page confirms that breakfast and mid-day meals are to be implemented in government junior colleges during 2026–27. But the deadline is not settled: one report says end-October for statewide coverage; another says the first week of November, after kitchen work is completed by October-end. Telangana has a programme. It still needs one date, one kitchen list and the paperwork behind the Rs 299.9 crore.
