87 shops, two days, bring a DD
Hyderabad district put 87 vacant commercial shops in 2BHK colonies up for open auction on July 31 and August 1. The notice has the addresses, sizes and upset prices. What it doesn’t have, yet, is how any of it ended.
The district auctioned 87 vacant shops; the results were yet to appear.
Hyderabad district moved to fill the long-empty commercial slots in its 2BHK housing colonies — by selling them. An auction notice dated July 17, uploaded July 24 and last updated July 31, schedules an open public auction of 87 vacant shops on July 31 and August 1, 2026, “as is where is”, issued by the District Collector as Chair of the Costing and Project Management Committee. According to the notice, Secunderabad division’s 45 shops were listed for July 31 at Hari Hara Kala Bhavan, and Hyderabad division’s 42 shops for August 1 at Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan.
The lots span Bandlaguda (Sy. 82 & 83/P), Jangammet, Farooq Nagar, Dhoolpet–Goshamahal–Kulsumpura, Kamalanagar, Chilkalaguda/Dhobighat, Bandamaisamma (Sanathnagar), SC Bose Nagar and LB Nagar/Bakararam. Sizes run from 66 sq ft to 252 sq ft; upset prices range from Rs 2,700 to Rs 4,800 per sq ft depending on location. Bidders were told to show up with a Rs 30,000 EMD demand draft in favour of the District Collector between 9:30 am and 11:00 am on the day.
What the official material does not say is the part residents actually care about: how many bidders turned up, what sold, for how much, when possession happens, and when a kirana or a clinic will open under their block. Those results were not published on the district site at the time of writing. The Congress at the Centre talks “urban rejuvenation” for the country; Hyderabad put 87 very specific shopfronts on the block. Now let’s see delivery, not slogans.
