A 17-year-old boy died of an electric shock during repair work in Shabad mandal, Rangareddy district, according to two published reports. The boy, identified in one report as Sai Teja, was described as an informal assistant to local linemen rather than an electricity department employee.
The report said a lineman identified as Sajith took him to repair a transformer and remained on the ground while the boy climbed the pole. Power was then reportedly restored, causing the shock. Those operational details have not been confirmed by a departmental inquiry or safety record.
Shabad electricity department AE Koteswara Rao was reported as saying Sai Teja was not a department employee and that steps would be taken to secure financial assistance for his family. No written compensation order, police record, post-mortem finding or safety inquiry was available in the material reviewed.
One report also said the local DE suspended an assistant lineman. The suspension order was not independently confirmed, and the reports differ on whether the worker was an assistant lineman or a lineman. The department has not publicly clarified that distinction in the material available.
