Adilabad airport: Rs 2,278 crore ‘sanction’ needs a GO
A report says Telangana okayed Rs 2,278.14 crore to acquire 2,009 acres for a joint-user airport in Adilabad. The state’s own releases confirm support for land acquisition — but not that figure, acreage or a deadline.

The Telangana government has reportedly accorded administrative sanction of Rs 2,278.14 crore to acquire 2,009 acres and shift utilities for an Adilabad Joint User Airport serving civil and IAF use, with acquisition “preferably” by December 31, 2026. The claim is attributed to a government order but the report does not identify the GO or link it; the state’s public releases so far do not carry those specifics.
What is on the record: in April and November 2025, reports recorded in-principle support for civil operations at an IAF airfield and a direction to acquire 700 acres. In June and July 2026, the government said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy assured “full support” for land acquisition, utility relocation and sought a civil airport alongside the proposed defence airport. Neither release mentions a Rs 2,278.14‑crore sanction, 2,009 acres or a 2026 target.
That leaves a gap: if the project has expanded from 700 acres in late 2025 to 2,009 acres now, the GO and its annexures need to show it. Until the order is public, the figure and acreage remain a single-outlet claim.
