Baranica Elangovan reportedly won bronze in the women’s pole vault at the Aichi–Nagoya Asian Games, clearing 4.15 metres in Nagoya on September 25, according to an IANS report. The report says she shared the medal with Kazakhstan’s Polina Ivanova, who matched both her height and successful-attempt count. Apparently, even bronze now requires a spreadsheet.
The report says Elangovan cleared 3.85m, 4.00m and 4.15m before failing three attempts at 4.25m. It also describes the result as India’s first Asian Games pole-vault medal, though that historical claim and the final standings could not be independently confirmed from an official Games results source in the material available.
