BJP’s 1,000-day charge sheet needs receipts

The Telangana BJP has released a charge sheet titled “1000 Days of Betrayal” against the Congress government, accusing it of failing to deliver six guarantees and 420 promises. BJP Legislative Party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy released the document, according to reports published on September 1 and 2. A wire report also recorded the release and the BJP’s “1,000 lies and 1,000 betrayals” description.

The document is a political indictment, not yet an audited delivery ledger. Its claims include Rs 15,000 crore in fee-reimbursement dues, 34,985 houses built against a target of 7,73,581, and more than 22 lakh farming families excluded from the loan waiver. The material reviewed does not independently establish those figures, and the BJP’s full charge sheet was not available in an official repository.

The Congress government’s own records do confirm that Gruha Jyothi began in March 2024 for eligible households using up to 200 units, with 1.37 crore zero bills recorded by June 30, 2024. The government also said 43 lakh beneficiaries were receiving Rs 500 LPG cylinders by August 2024. Rythu Bharosa is listed at Rs 6,000 per acre per season on a district government page, while the state’s 2024 outlook records the promise as Rs 15,000 per acre annually. That gap deserves an answer, not another slogan. The BJP has supplied the headline; now it needs to supply the receipts.
