Black shirts, locked gates, Congress’s thousand-day welcome
BRS legislators announced their Assembly agenda, reached the gates and were detained. The Congress government’s answer was a clothing dispute and police cases.

The BRS arrived at Telangana’s Assembly session with black T-shirts, a list of issues and rather less access to the building than a legislature usually promises. K. T. Rama Rao, T. Harish Rao and other legislators gathered at Gun Park on September 7, paid tributes at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial and moved towards the Assembly. Several were detained after a confrontation at the gate and taken to Telangana Bhavan. [1]
The shirts carried slogans criticising the Congress government’s performance after 1,000 days. Police said black clothing was not prohibited; the problem, they said, was the wording printed on it. Some BRS legislators in ordinary clothes were allowed inside, while others staged a sit-in near the lobbies entrance. The BRS also sought discussion on its stated concerns, including fee-reimbursement dues, farmers’ issues, irrigation, farm-loan waivers, employees’ dues and the length of the session. A report citing Harish Rao’s announcement after a BRSLP meeting said KCR would skip the session and lead an agitation after it. That is an attributed report, not a confirmed attendance record. What is documented is that KTR, Harish Rao and other BRS legislators turned up. The Congress government now has police cases, slogan semantics and no substantive response in the material reviewed to the BRS’s 1,000-day challenge. The gates opened selectively; the answers did not open at all.
