BRS absent? The protest queue says otherwise

KCR’s own attendance at the Telangana Assembly remains a fair question. The larger claim that BRS has disappeared from public politics, however, has met the party at the Assembly gates and been detained there.
At a September 6 BRS Legislature Party meeting at Erravelli, KCR reportedly directed MLAs and MLCs to attend Assembly and Council proceedings, raise public issues and challenge the Congress government in the House, according to a UNI report. A separate report said he announced a statewide tour and a planned padayatra focused on the Congress government’s record and irrigation projects. The date, route and final leader of that march remain unsettled; politics, at least, has not received its itinerary yet.
On September 7, KTR, Harish Rao and other BRS legislators gathered near the Assembly in black T-shirts and were detained or arrested after being stopped from entering, according to reports by Telangana Today and The South First. KTR’s claim that Congress made 420 promises and fulfilled none is a political allegation, not an independently verified count. But the protest itself is documented.
Criticise KCR’s attendance if the record demands it. It does not turn an active opposition into a missing person. The Congress government can keep mistaking detention for disappearance.
