BRS takes 45-point suspension dispute to Governor

The BRS has taken its 45-point case against the suspension of two MLCs to Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, because apparently one constitutional office was not enough for this week’s Legislature drama.

A delegation led by BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao met the Governor at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday, September 9, and submitted what the party described as a 13-page representation. It sought reconsideration of the suspensions of T. Madhu and N. Naveen Kumar Reddy, and asked that the matter be placed before the Assembly Speaker and Legislative Council Chairman after giving the MLCs an opportunity to be heard.

The Council suspended the two BRS MLCs for the remainder of the session on September 8, following a resolution moved by Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu. The resolution cited remarks allegedly made against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and was adopted unanimously.

The BRS also asked the Governor to seek reports from the Chief Secretary and DGP on events of September 7 and 8, including restrictions on entry to the Legislature, the presence of civilian-clothed personnel at Gate No. 3, and preservation of CCTV and other electronic footage. Its request for an FIR over alleged assaults on legislators remains a party demand, not an established finding.

The party also sought security for K. Chandrasekhar Rao at Erravalli, quoting its representation as asking authorities to “call for a report upon the threat attributed to KCR”. The Governor’s office has not publicly confirmed any action on the representation, while the government’s version includes a police case against BRS legislators over allegations involving women police personnel and a separate inquiry ordered by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
