Expired Kalyana Lakshmi cheques were distributed at a programme in Gundumal, Narayanpet — inside Kodangal, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s constituency — and the administration now says it will swap them for valid ones. The person distributing them, according to a local report, was A. Tirupati Reddy, the CM’s brother and the Congress in‑charge for Kodangal.
The confirmation comes from the official on the spot. “It is true that cheques whose validity had expired were distributed,” Gundumal tahsildar Bhaskar said on the record, adding that the delay happened because “Congress leaders did not give time”, and promising to take back the dud cheques and issue new ones.
The report says 78 cheques were handed out and that more than 69 had crossed the usual three‑month window; it also says banks sent beneficiaries back because the instruments had expired. Those specifics — the bank branch, return memos, and a cheque list — have not been published yet. What is published is the tahsildar’s admission and the promise to fix it.
Kodangal elected the man now running the state; his party’s local machinery managed a welfare event with cheques past date. The BJP will grandstand and the TDP will tweet, but it was the Congress in Kodangal that couldn’t find a day in the calendar.
