GHMC sanitation workers and Swachh Auto Tipper drivers protested near the Telangana Assembly on September 12 and at GHMC headquarters on September 18, opposing what they described as a plan to outsource door-to-door garbage collection. Their demands included job security, government intervention and continuation of the existing system. Nearly 200 workers joined the September 18 protest, according to a report on the demonstration. Workers and the Human Rights Forum have alleged that GHMC is considering handing the work to Re Sustainability Ltd, formerly Ramky Enviro Engineers. The company already says it manages 90 secondary collection and transport points across 150 Hyderabad wards. The important document is still missing. The reviewed GHMC tender page contains no publicly located tender confirming the transfer, and no approval, contract or implementation date was found.
