High Court asks for noise report before immersion

The Telangana High Court has asked the Home Department and police to file a compliance report on enforcement of its Ganesh-festival directions in Hyderabad, Secunderabad and adjoining areas, ahead of immersion on September 25, 2026. The report was due on September 24.

Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar, hearing the matter on September 22, said loud sound systems appeared to be continuing at night during immersion processions. “Prima facie, the noise pollution appears to be loud and continuing,” the court reportedly observed, noting the impact on elderly people and those with ailments. The observation is interim; the court has not made a final finding against identified organisers.

The Government Pleader for Home told the court that police had met organisers and committee members on September 13 and 16, initiated preventive proceedings against people associated with DJ systems, and bound over 57 people in Nirmal district.
