Kukatpally’s Rangadhamuni Kunta, better known as IDL Lake, is finally receiving attention in the form of earth movers and more than 20 feet of waste-laden silt being removed ahead of Ganesh immersion on September 25, 2026. HYDRAA is preparing part of the 72-acre lake for immersion, while officials say wider restoration will continue after the festival. (Telangana Today; PrimeAndhra)
HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath said the agency was removing “lakhs of tonnes of silt and waste daily” and planned to remove the remaining silt after the festivities. That is a clear promise, although the public record still does not show the work order, sanctioned cost, contractor, disposal destination or completion date. HMDA had earlier spent Rs 9.80 crore on lakefront development, according to a previous report. Whether this operation is a continuation, a festival-time rescue or another promise waiting for paperwork is not yet clear. The machines are visible. The restoration architecture is not.
