Illegal 7-storey fell; officer suspended
Two workers died in the Gachibowli collapse. Police booked the named builder and contractor; the civic body suspended its town-planning officer and pulled down what was left.

Two construction workers — K Umesh, 34, and Mopat, 42, both from Madhya Pradesh — died when a seven-storey under-construction building collapsed in Anjaiah Nagar, Gachibowli, on August 22, according to police accounts reported by multiple outlets. Debris damaged neighbouring buildings; officials asked residents in adjoining structures to vacate pending checks. The final injury count has not been published by police or hospitals.
Raidurgam Police booked Syed Sajid, described by the Madhapur ACP as the building’s owner, and contractor Khaja Moinuddin, including Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Reports say Sajid has been taken into custody. Where and how the arrest occurred has not been confirmed by a police or court document yet.
A Cyberabad Municipal Corporation town-planning report cited by local coverage says the structure at H.No. 1-60/113/135/1, Anjaiah Nagar, was raised without permission, without required setbacks and close to a nala. It attributes the construction to Farheen Siddiq and Md. Sajid, notes an earlier notice dated June 17, 2026, and says the Town Planning Wing asked police to register a criminal case.
CMC Commissioner G. Srijana suspended Town Planning Building Officer U. Santosh Kumar for failing to halt the unauthorised work, with disciplinary proceedings initiated. HYDRAA and CMC teams inspected the site, evacuated neighbours and completed demolition of the illegal remains despite rain.
