India beat Thailand 20–1 at the Asian Games on Wednesday, recording their third straight Pool B win. Hockey India’s official results page lists the earlier victories as 19–0 against Uzbekistan and 17–1 against Indonesia. Japan are next on Friday.
Multiple reports said India forward Deepika Sehrawat scored nine goals, all from penalty corners, in what UNI described as a record for an Indian woman in a single Asian Games hockey match. The reports also credited Navneet Kaur with four, Rutuja Dadaso Pisal with three, and Neha Goyal, Lalremsiami, Sakshi Rana and captain Salima Tete with one each. Thailand’s goal was attributed to Supansa Samanso.
The nine-goal breakdown is not listed on the accessible Hockey India results page. Hockey India’s own squad and player pages identify the forward simply as Deepika, so the surname and the scorer sheet remain for the tournament record-keepers to settle. The scoreline, at least, has survived contact with the paperwork.
