India retained the Asian Games women’s compound team title with a 238–234 win over China.
India retained the Asian Games women’s compound team title on Wednesday, defeating China 238–234 at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square in Aichi-Nagoya. Chikitha Taniparthi, Prithika Pradeep and Jyothi Surekha Vennam delivered India’s second straight gold in the event, according to Yonhap.
The trio had earlier shot 238–223 against Mongolia in the round of 16. That score was reported as equalling the women’s compound team match world record set by South Korea at the 2014 Asian Games. The final’s 238, therefore, should not be advertised as a new world record: the available record shows the score matched the existing mark. World Archery has not been found to have formally recognised the final as a new record.
The gold is confirmed. The extra record belongs to the publicity department, pending an official match sheet.
