Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy told district collectors and engineers to move compensation for irrigation-affected families in “one or two days wherever documentation is complete”, and to stop treating money parked in Personal Deposit (PD) accounts as delivery. The order came in a video conference on August 21, according to a report that cited Jagtial, Siddipet and Mahabubabad for specific pending work.
The same report claims the state “released” Rs 2,782 crore, of which about Rs 566 crore reached beneficiaries, with roughly Rs 989 crore mid‑process, Rs 199 crore idle with districts and Rs 455 crore tied to cleared tokens. Telangana.Social could not find a government order, treasury note or department dashboard that confirms these figures; they are reported claims, not an official statement on record.
Context is real enough: the Irrigation & CAD Department lists Uttam as minister, and past government reviews have flagged land acquisition and R&R as persistent chokepoints needing coordination between Revenue and Irrigation. An official note last year directed faster clearances; another in July 2025 set deadlines to finish acquisition and pay compensation.
Two things matter now. One, beneficiaries need bank credits, not speeches about PD balances. Two, if Rs 2,782 crore was actually “released”, the Irrigation and Finance departments can publish the project‑ and district‑wise ledger tomorrow. The BJP‑led Centre isn’t writing these cheques; Telangana is. The Congress government here should show its maths, not just its meetings.
