Shubman Gill scored 110 from 108 balls and Virat Kohli finished unbeaten on 139 from 88, hitting 10 fours and nine sixes. Their 151-run second-wicket stand did most of the administrative work. Rohit Sharma made 32, while Kuldeep Yadav’s 4/40 had earlier prevented West Indies from turning a strong start into something more inconvenient.
Justin Greaves scored his maiden ODI hundred, 101 from 108 balls, and John Campbell made 62. The result leaves India’s batting looking rather less interested in suspense than the schedule may have intended.
The ICC said Kohli became only the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to pass 15,000 ODI runs, reaching 15,080 in 315 innings. India’s next match is scheduled for September 30 in Guwahati.
