Mamunur gets a name before it gets a contractor

Mamunur Airport has a naming conversation, a ₹213.59 crore tender and, so far, no publicly documented contractor award. The sequence is not quite the airport equivalent of boarding before booking; it is the government’s branding department arriving ahead of the construction schedule.
The Airports Authority of India invited bids on September 14 for a new domestic terminal, ATC tower, fire station, workshop and associated works. Bids close on November 3 and are due to be opened on November 9. A separate tender, estimated at about ₹203.5 crore, covers runway, apron, taxiway and related airfield works. The public record reviewed shows no successful bidder, work order or construction commencement.
The Telangana government says land acquisition has been completed and handed over. At a September 2 meeting, the Union civil aviation minister said tenders would be finalised by December and foundation works taken up that month. Meanwhile, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has invited suggestions for the airport’s name, according to published reports. Asaduddin Owaisi’s reported request to name it after Moulvi Syed Alauddin is separately unverified from the primary letter.
For now, Mamunur has tenders and proposed names. The Congress government in Telangana has not yet produced a contractor on the public record; the BJP-led Union machinery has supplied the paperwork. The runway can wait, apparently. The name cannot.
