The trailer for Maremma, a rural-set Telugu drama, was unveiled this week ahead of its September 10 theatrical release. The exact launch date is less settled than the film’s release date; the trailer, at least, has arrived without waiting for a committee meeting.
The film stars Maadhav Bhupathiraju and Deepa Balu, with Vikas Vasishta, Vinod Kumar, V.S. Rupa Lakshmi and Dayanand Reddy in the cast. Manchala Nagaraj is credited as writer-director, making his directorial debut. Mayur Reddy Bandaru produces the film under Moksha Arts.
Promotional material places the story in rural Telangana and centres on village traditions, a deity and a sacred or male buffalo named Maari. The trailer’s story setup involves conflict after buffaloes mysteriously die.
