Masked attack or station argument? CCTV has the job
BRS alleges that masked men attacked KTR’s staff inside Saifabad police station. Police deny an attack. The cameras, naturally, remain the most important witnesses in the room.
The accounts differ over what the station cameras recorded.
Saifabad police had already registered Crime No. 371/2026 against KTR’s PRO Mahesh and PA Mahender Reddy before a second, contested episode unfolded at the station. The case, registered on September 9, concerns an alleged confrontation at Assembly Gate No. 3 on September 7. BRS leaders allege that 15–20 masked men entered the station and tried to attack the two men. KTR sought a sitting-judge inquiry, preservation of CCTV footage and action against those responsible. BRS legal-cell representative Jakkula Lakshman alleged that no FIR was registered over the attack and that CCTV footage was not being supplied. The reported police account, attributed to Khairatabad Zone DCP Shilpavalli, says CCTV showed no attack and that an argument took place with local youths who had come to seek permission for a Ganesh mandapam. Another report says police told the BRS legal team that the station cameras were not working. The Congress government in Telangana has yet to clear up that small problem of whether the cameras saw everything or saw nothing. No arrest of an alleged masked attacker has been confirmed.
