Dropped from Cabinet, Surekha stays put
The Warangal East MLA says she and Konda Murali will remain in Congress and that she will contest the 2028 election. The ticket, naturally, is still only hers in theory.
The ministerial desk is vacant; the 2028 ticket remains pending.
Konda Surekha says losing her Telangana Cabinet post has not pushed her out of Congress. At a supporters’ meeting in Warangal on September 13, the Warangal East MLA said she and her husband, former MLC Konda Murali, would remain in the party and continue working for people whether or not they held official posts.
Surekha also said she expected to contest from Warangal East in the 2028 Assembly election, win again and return as a minister. That is her political intention, not a Congress ticket announcement; no formal nomination has been identified.
She was dropped from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s Cabinet on September 3, amid controversy over remarks by her daughter, Konda Sushmitha Patel. Surekha separately accused Reddy of using “blackmail politics” to secure her removal and said the party high command had not favoured it. That remains an allegation by Surekha, and Reddy has not publicly answered it in the material reviewed.
Congress has managed to keep its MLA. The ticket committee can worry about the rest in 2028.
