Hyderabad Metro Phase II has seven proposed corridors covering 122.9 km, with approvals still pending.
Departments were asked at a Telangana Secretariat coordination meeting on August 17 to expedite NOCs for Hyderabad Metro Phase II, according to reports published on August 19. The meeting was chaired by Special Chief Secretary (MA&UD) Jayesh Ranjan; HMRL MD and HMDA chief Sarfaraz Ahmad was among those involved, per the same reports. The focus included clearances from the Network Planning Group under DPIIT.
What is on record: the state’s May 6 press release pegs Phase II at seven corridors and 122.9 km, with a detailed project report submitted to the Union government and an estimated cost of ₹38,595 crore. HMRL’s own Phase II page confirms earlier expansion proposals sent to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, though it reflects an older five-corridor plan plus a Phase II(B) of three corridors — a reminder that the paperwork has evolved faster than the website.
What is not on record: a construction start date, a final Union approval, an NPG clearance, or a list of NOCs actually issued after the meeting. In other words, the project is advancing in the administrative lane while the BJP-led Centre weighs a DPR for a city that already proved mass transit demand the hard way. The file has moved; the rails will when Delhi does.
