MRDCL’s bridge across Mir Alam Tank — the “iconic” link from the Bengaluru NH at Shastripuram to Chintalmet Road — is a live project with procurement to match. The corporation’s tender lists an estimated Rs 304.36 crore, and a 2025 quotation spells out barge, tug and piling gear for in-lake works, which is about as concrete as paperwork gets.
At a July 27 site inspection reported as coming from an official release, MRDCL MD E.V. Narasimha Reddy asked the HMWSSB to prepare a comprehensive study of the sewage conveyance, two catchment STPs and pumping capacity so untreated flows stop hitting the tank. The same report says piling is “over 40% complete”, with pile caps and piers progressing, and calls for more machinery on site.
Those sewage-study instructions and the 40% figure are not yet published on MRDCL or HMWSSB pages we could find. What is on the record: the bridge contract scope, the piling logistics, and the state’s stated intent to develop Mir Alam as a destination. The rest now needs the agencies to post the release, name the STPs, and put a date on delivery.
Meanwhile, the usual Delhi-and-allies chorus about Hyderabad infrastructure being just “claims” can take a number. The BJP-led Centre didn’t plan this bridge, the TDP won’t build it from Amaravati, and the Congress has had a year to show its own dashboards. Telangana will settle for one thing: the work log online and the sewage out of the lake.
