A report has alleged that 1995-batch IPS officer and Additional DGP (Law & Order) Mahesh M. Bhagwat was seated away from the main table at a September 12 review meeting chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The meeting concerned arrangements for the Ganesh festival, according to the report.
The allegation goes further: that Bhagwat was deliberately sidelined because he is Dalit, that junior officers were seated ahead of him and that protocol was breached. The report does not cite the protocol rule, identify the officers in the photograph or provide a statement from Bhagwat, the Chief Minister’s Office, Telangana Police or the Home Department.
The photograph establishes that officials met around a U-shaped table. It does not establish their identities, ranks, caste backgrounds or intent. Official Telangana Police and IPS records confirm Bhagwat’s posting and batch, but say nothing about the meeting. The government has also not published an attendee list, minutes or seating plan.
