BRS takes Assembly clash to Delhi commissions
BRS legislators have alleged police manhandling during a September 7 confrontation. The allegation remains unverified; Saifabad police say they are checking it.
The allegations have reached Delhi; verification and formal action have not yet been announced.
BRS legislators have taken their account of a September 7 confrontation at the Telangana Assembly to the National Commission for Women and the National Human Rights Commission. The delegation met NCW chairperson Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar and NHRC member Vijaya Bharathi Sayani in New Delhi on September 11, according to reports.
P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, V. Sunitha Laxma Reddy and Kova Lakshmi alleged that police stopped them before they entered the Assembly and physically handled women legislators. Sabitha said, “Pulling our hair on one side, pulling our sarees on the other” was part of the incident. Those are the complainants’ accounts, not findings by either commission. No public complaint number, inquiry order, CCTV record or medical documentation has been published.
Sabitha and Sunitha also filed a complaint at Saifabad Police Station on September 10. Police said the facts were being verified and action would follow the findings. The Telangana government, police leadership and Assembly administration have not publicly answered the allegations. The commissions have not announced formal action. For now, the BRS has supplied its version; the institutions approached have supplied paperwork-shaped silence.
