Police say Rs54cr drug haul

Bhongir police and the Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri SOT said they seized 27 kg of suspected mephedrone, which they valued at about Rs 54 crore, in a joint operation on 8 August near Kondamadugu’s outskirts. The operation, as described in a published report, involved stopping a Toyota Fortuner (MH-49-CW-1313) and recovering chemicals and equipment including a reactor and centrifuge. Police said about 40 kg of liquid acetone and six phones were also seized, and four people were arrested with four others “absconding”.
According to the same report, police claimed the drug was illicitly manufactured between 5 and 7 August at “Vetukuri Labs”, Kondamadugu, and was headed to Nagpur for distribution. They also said they would move to seal the lab after legal formalities. These specifics, including the Rs 54-crore valuation, are police assertions carried by the report; no FIR number, NDPS sections, seizure memo or FSL result was available on record at publication.
Akshansh Yadav, IPS, is listed as a senior district police official on the Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri administration site. The investigation, police said, is ongoing. The paperwork would answer most questions; it hasn’t been put out yet.
