Preeti Pawar and Priya Ghanghas have boxed India onto the Commonwealth Games podium in Glasgow. According to a PTI dispatch, Preeti outclassed Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde 5–0 to reach the women’s 54kg semifinal, her first at the Games. Priya, the reigning Asian champion at 60kg, recovered after dropping the opening round to edge Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell 4–1 on a split decision, with judges scoring it 28–27, 28–27, 27–28, 28–27 and 29–26. A semifinal place guarantees at least bronze under CWG rules.
