Telangana ration-card holders may have five more days to collect the combined August–October free-rice quota, according to two reports published on September 2. Both say distribution will continue statewide through the evening of September 5, after an original August 1–31 schedule.
The reported reasons include crowds at fair-price shops, Rakhi travel and weather conditions. The stated aim is to ensure eligible beneficiaries receive the government’s fine rice. Sensible enough. The paperwork, however, is playing hide-and-seek.
The reports do not cite a government order, circular number, issuing officer or written instruction to ration dealers. Telangana’s Civil Supplies system confirms the department’s role in running the public distribution system, but its publicly visible pages do not show the September 5 extension. The Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation’s visible latest-news section does not show it either.
So September 5 is independently reported, not officially verified. Beneficiaries should check with their fair-price shop before making a trip; the department has not publicly clarified district coverage, operating hours or whether the extension covers the full uncollected quota.
