An oversized ₹900 crore label looms over a government desk with blank folders, an empty file tray, a locked records cabinet and a blank e-procurement screen, with empty dining tables in the background.

The documents needed to test the alleged gurukul food-supply tender remain unpublished.

BRS leader R.S. Praveen Kumar has alleged irregularities in Telangana’s proposed gurukul food-supply procurement, pegging the tenders at about Rs 900 crore. He said supplies were being centralised through NACOF and questioned alleged price increases, food-quality changes and reduced egg, chicken and mutton allocations. These remain allegations, not established findings. [1]

The Congress government has not published the tender ID, award letter, bill of quantities, rate comparison or current menu needed to test the claims. It has also not publicly answered the specific allegations about NACOF, African-origin toor dal, bunker-bed pricing or the Rs 900-crore figure in the material reviewed. The government’s earlier response concerned a separate student-supplies procurement: officials cited Rs 687.78 crore through tenders, while another minister gave a broader Rs 1,143-crore figure including government-agency purchases. [2][3]

That distinction matters. The Rs 687.78-crore student-kits exercise and the alleged Rs 900-crore food procurement have not been shown to be the same stream. NACOF’s separate legal dispute with Markfed also does not establish that it was currently blacklisted or barred from this procurement. [4] The Congress government wants the benefit of centralisation; it can begin by publishing the paperwork. Until then, the tender exists mainly as a number and a press conference.
