Girls allege beatings over water at Mulugu hostel

Students at a tribal girls’ residential school in Mulugu district have alleged that they were made to drink water used for washing clothes and were assaulted after asking for drinking water, according to reports published on September 8, 2026.
The complaints concern TSTWRS Venkatapur(G), identified by the Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society’s official page. Reports place the school beside the ITDA College at Venkatapuram mandal headquarters. Students also alleged overflowing toilet wastewater, uncollected dustbins, poor menstrual-waste facilities, threats and rude staff behaviour. One student was quoted as saying, “We were beaten just for asking for water.”
These remain allegations, not independently established findings.
