TPS has four pilots, not 7,500 closures
Telangana’s public-school model is documented. The mass-closure claim is not — and its own arithmetic does not survive the first line of addition.
The documented Telangana Public School model currently has four reported pilot locations.
Telangana’s first Telangana Public School is open at Arutla in Rangareddy, offering English-medium education from pre-primary to Intermediate, with laboratories, digital facilities, sports infrastructure and student transport, according to the state government. Four pilot locations have been reported: Arutla, Manchal, Vangoor and Polkampalli. The model is planned for about 100 schools.
Arutla has brought several institutions into one campus. That is documented. What is not documented is the leap from campus integration to 7,500 imminent closures. No government closure order, school-wise merger list or student-transfer order was located in the material reviewed. The figure is also built on numbers that add up to 9,705, not 7,500. Even the arithmetic has declined the merger proposal.
The government needs to publish the school-wise plan, transport routes, staffing details and the meaning of “integration”. Until then, TPS is a public-school expansion programme with a documented pilot — not proof of a mass shutdown. The Congress government has supplied the campus; it has yet to supply the paperwork behind the panic.
