Civil-society groups say they have asked the Election Commission of India and Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy to make the Special Intensive Revision process less of a paperwork guessing game.
A representation reportedly sent on September 13 to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Reddy seeks notices that state why a voter is being summoned, identify the relevant 2002 electoral-roll entry, show the voter’s current-roll details and spell out the discrepancy officials have found. The groups also want voters to see submitted documents, booth-level officer remarks, hearing details, recommendations, decisions and case status online.
They have further sought written notice when an explanation is considered inadequate, a chance to submit more material, and daily constituency-wise figures on notices, hearings, approvals, rejections and other disposals. The demands are claims by the activists; the representation and sample notices were not publicly available in the material reviewed.
The ECI schedule says Telangana’s notice and disposal process runs until September 28, ahead of final-roll publication on October 1. No public response from the ECI or Telangana CEO was found in the material reviewed. The deadline is published; the explanation voters are asking for is still apparently on back order.
