Supriya Yarlagadda joins CBFC’s 18-member board

The Centre has reconstituted the Central Board of Film Certification with 18 members, and Supriya Yarlagadda is eighth on the official list. The appointments took effect on September 16, 2026, for three years or until further orders, whichever comes first. Even government paperwork occasionally remembers that films have endings.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said the board was reconstituted under Section 3(1) of the Cinematograph Act, 1952, read with Rule 3 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 2024. The CBFC is the statutory body that certifies films for public exhibition in India. Its official website lists Shashi Shekhar Vempati as chairperson.
Yarlagadda’s inclusion gives Telugu cinema a notable presence on the new board, although the government release does not describe her as a producer, actor, Annapurna Studios executive or Telugu-industry representative. It also does not explain the selection, assign her a specific responsibility or link her to the CBFC’s Hyderabad regional office. The notification names her. The casting note, apparently, is still in production.
