Telangana’s Legislative Assembly has asked the Union government for a ₹20,000-crore special package to address deficient rainfall, drinking-water needs, irrigation and drought mitigation. The resolution was moved by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and adopted on September 18, the final day of the monsoon session. (Telangana Today)
The demands include a Central assessment team, NDRF assistance, immediate release of the Centre’s SDRF share, crop-loss compensation, input subsidies, fodder and livestock support, tank restoration and groundwater recharge. Telangana also sought 50 extra employment days over the existing 125 under VB-G RAM G, with the Centre paying the full cost, along with 1,500 MW from unallocated Central power capacity, five million tonnes of coal and more railway rakes. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy separately met Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and submitted a memorandum seeking assistance.
