The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau says it caught Keesara police station SI Dyapa Gnanender Reddy accepting ₹5 lakh at about 11.25pm on September 16. The alleged collection was made on the instructions of Inspector and SHO Arkapally Anjaneyulu, according to the ACB account reproduced in multiple reports.
The alleged favour was station bail for the complainant and his friend, along with an assurance that they would not be harassed in a case already registered at Keesara police station. The ACB says it recovered the cash from Reddy at his instance. A routine police favour, apparently, had acquired a five-lakh administrative fee.
Both officers were being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand, and the case remains under investigation.
