Telangana’s inflation hits 6.27%; wallets get no holiday

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation’s release put Tamil Nadu at 5.92%, Andhra Pradesh at 5.53%, Karnataka at 5.23% and Kerala at 4.67%. Telangana’s rate was also above 6% for four straight months, from May through August. India’s combined rate was 4.82%.
The data were compiled from 1,407 urban markets and 1,465 villages, with a 100% response rate in both categories, according to the ministry. The August figures are provisional, and the current series uses 2024 as its base year. Telangana recorded -0.93% combined inflation in June 2025, but the available record does not establish the full extent or causes of the earlier decline. The numbers show the pressure; the political cast is still free to explain it away.
