TG SAFE said it suspended the FSSAI licences of 11 Hyderabad eateries after a September 26 inspection drive covering 20 establishments. Ten teams of food-safety officers and police personnel reportedly collected 21 food samples on suspicion of adulteration.
The agency’s reported findings included pest infestations, rat faeces, expired or spoiled food, fungal contamination, poor storage, clogged drains and inadequate hygiene records. The named outlets include restaurants and bars in Hitec City, Gachibowli, Madhapur and Inorbit Mall. Six other establishments were due to receive improvement notices, while three were to receive show-cause notices.
The findings are attributed to TG SAFE, but the underlying inspection reports, suspension orders and laboratory results were not available in the material reviewed. Sample collection is not a positive test result, and the reports do not establish that contaminated food was served or that anyone fell ill.
