The 23-lakh-acre audit nobody can show
The BJP says Dharani’s forensic audit found around 13,000 transactions covering nearly 23 lakh acres. The report remains unavailable, which leaves Telangana with a headline and no annexure.

He also sought an inquiry by a sitting judge. The audit itself has not been published, and no government document located so far confirms those figures.
There is a real paper trail for an inquiry. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced a forensic audit in December 2024. In July 2026, the Congress government constituted a Special Enquiry Team to examine alleged irregularities in Dharani and Bhu Bharathi, after pilot checks in Siddipet and Medak. A January report referred to 35,000 transactions examined in Siddipet and Sircilla, with discrepancies in 4,848; another mentioned more than 10,000 suspicious transactions. Those figures are not interchangeable, and none establishes the BJP’s 23-lakh-acre claim.
The Telangana government has not publicly confirmed or rejected Maheshwar Reddy’s exact numbers. The BJP is asking everyone to inspect an audit that remains behind the curtain. Publishing the report would be simpler than publishing the demand to publish it.
