Three civic corporations, one very large test
GHMC, CMC and MMC have announced cranes, teams and immersion points for Hyderabad’s September 25 Ganesh procession. Whether the machinery works beyond the press release remains the useful question.

Hyderabad’s Ganesh immersion operation will put three municipal corporations to a very public test on September 25. GHMC, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation have announced routes, barricades, cranes and immersion points ahead of the procession. The inventory is impressive. The event will decide whether it is also useful.
GHMC says it has deployed 280 cranes — 110 static and 170 mobile — along with 136 Ganesh Action Teams, about 6,000 sweepers, 770 sanitation workers, 42 mini-tippers and 10 JCBs. Its plan also includes ambulances, paramedics, boats, swimmers and lifesaving equipment, with emergency assistance available through Dial 112 or 040-2111 1111. CMC has identified 53 immersion points, including IDL Lake. MMC’s latest reported count is 39 centres across Uppal, Malkajgiri and LB Nagar.
The fine print is doing some work. Officials said road repairs had been completed, but the material reviewed does not independently establish which roads were repaired or whether the promised equipment will be present and operational. MMC reports also differ on whether it has 39 or 40 centres. The agencies have announced a large operation. On September 25, Hyderabad gets to see the less glamorous part: delivery.
