Two pumps on, then off: KLI gets a Congress cameo
BRS leaders said two Gudipalli motors were started before their inspection and stopped again later. Official operating logs remain unpublished.

Two motors at the Gudipalli reservoir pump house were reportedly started early on September 11, shortly before a BRS delegation arrived to inspect the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme. BRS leaders then alleged that the motors were shut later the same day. The Congress government in Telangana has not publicly explained the operating sequence in the material reviewed.
The allegation is politically convenient, but the timing is documented only through the report and statements by BRS leaders. There is no irrigation-department log confirming the start or stop times, the reason for any shutdown, or the volume released into canals. The official project document says KLI draws from the Srisailam foreshore, was designed to lift 25 TMC and irrigate 3.65 lakh acres. Gudipally Gattu is its Stage III balancing reservoir, with a stated capacity of 0.96 TMC.
BRS leaders also cited Srisailam storage figures ranging from 124 TMC to more than 125 TMC, but no matching official reading was found. The pumps, meanwhile, have at least achieved one reliable result: they have become excellent subjects for press statements.
