Warangal bridge collects potholes, not repairs

Warangal’s Y-shaped road overbridge is facing renewed complaints over potholes, exposed aggregate and poor lighting. The issue is not entirely new: activists from the MCPI(U) Warangal district committee raised the same concerns during a visit on August 16, 2025, and sought immediate repairs. (Trinethram News)
Activist Mukkera Ramaswamy alleged that the bridge had deteriorated before completing 10 years and that vehicles falling into potholes had left some people with fractures and hospitalisations. Those claims have not been independently established in the available material; no accident records, hospital data or engineering inspection were provided. The 2025 report also records allegations of poor-quality construction materials, but there is no quality-control report or contract audit supporting them.
A report published on August 31, 2026, separately described pothole damage across roads in Warangal and Hanamkonda, including the Pothananagar Road–Warangal underbridge stretch. The Roads and Buildings Department lists road and bridge construction and maintenance among its functions, but the available records do not establish that its Warangal office is responsible for this bridge. The agency, contractor, cost, completion date and repair schedule remain unpublished in the research available here. The bridge has the potholes. The paperwork, apparently, has taken a different route.
