₹10 lakh job promise, fake letter, police case

A complaint by Bhadrachalam auto-rickshaw driver Rayala Srinu has led to a cheating case against Korla Kalyan Kumar, the reported personal assistant of MLA Tellam Venkat Rao, over an alleged ₹9.95 lakh payment for his son’s job at Bhadradri Thermal Power Station near Manuguru.

Bhadrachalam police registered the case under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, according to Telangana Today. Police told V6 Velugu that an investigation was under way. Reports say Kalyan allegedly issued a joining or appointment letter in Manikantha’s name and kept postponing the joining date. The document was later alleged to be fake; the letter itself and any forensic confirmation have not been made public.

Several reports put the alleged wider collections anywhere between ₹8 crore and more than ₹15 crore. Police have not publicly documented a total in the material reviewed. Kalyan is reported to have surrendered, but a formal arrest memo or remand order was not available.

BRS leaders have sought an inquiry into whether the MLA knew about Kalyan’s actions. Bhadrachalam sarpanch Punem Krishna, identified as a Congress leader, said the MLA had no connection with the alleged acts. Tellam Venkat Rao’s own direct statement was not found. The larger the number, the more conspicuous the missing paperwork becomes.
