11.56 lakh houses — or just a meeting?
Revanth Reddy asked the BJP-led Centre for 11.56 lakh PMAY-G rural houses and to fold Indiramma works into the new VB-G RAM-G jobs framework. The Union government has not produced a sanction, a fund release or a timeline.

Telangana asked. Delhi smiled for the photo. According to multiple reports of a July 28 meeting in New Delhi, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy sought 11.56 lakh houses for Telangana under PMAY-G 2.0 and asked Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to count Indiramma house-building work under the VB-G RAM-G employment scheme, with 90 days of paid work for beneficiaries. The reported asks are clear; the approvals are not.
What is on paper today is the Union Cabinet’s scheme-level green light for PMAY-G to run through 2028–29 with two crore additional rural houses nationwide, a ₹3,06,137 crore outlay and the usual 60:40 Centre–state split for ordinary states like Telangana. Useful context, but it is not a Telangana-specific sanction, and it does not add up to 11.56 lakh houses in anyone’s order book.
Union datasets still show Telangana at zero under PMAY-G activity in earlier periods, and the PMAY-G dashboard reviewed does not display a fresh Telangana sanction matching the 11.56 lakh number. There is no Union notification listing a Telangana target, no fund release, no VB-G RAM-G approval to tag Indiramma works, and no timetable in the official material reviewed.
Telangana’s case is straightforward: house-building is real work and should count as such; rural families need the houses and the wages. The BJP-led Centre has yet to move from ‘noted’ to ‘approved’.
