22 BRS MLAs suspended, accountability postponed
The Congress government suspended the main opposition for the rest of the monsoon session after protests over alleged police treatment of two women MLAs. The police report, meanwhile, remains pending.

The Telangana Assembly suspended 22 BRS MLAs for the remainder of the ongoing monsoon session after protests and slogans in the House. K. T. Rama Rao and T. The immediate dispute was BRS’s allegation that police used excessive force against MLAs P. Sabitha Indra Reddy and V. Sunitha Laxma Reddy. Harish Rao demanded an apology, while KTR called the alleged action “a blot on the Indian democracy”. The Speaker and the government said they had sought a police report; the available material does not show that report, medical evidence or an independent finding confirming the allegation. A separate police complaint has also led to a case against several BRS legislators over alleged misconduct with women police personnel. That is a complaint and registered case, not a finding of guilt, and the available report carries no response from the named legislators. The Congress government has suspended the opposition before publishing the report meant to settle the dispute. Proceedings, at least, have been efficiently concluded.
