The Congress government in Telangana has been accused of selling government land worth ₹30,000 crore. The inconvenient detail for both the slogan and the government’s land rhetoric is that the ledger has not appeared.
BRS Legislature Party deputy leader T. Harish Rao made the allegation on August 26 while addressing families affected by properties listed under Section 22A at KPHB Colony. He also alleged that Housing Board and TGIIC lands were being offered for sale, private and assigned properties were being targeted, and a 1,000-square-yard park site in Hyder Nagar had been put up for sale. The published account provides no parcel list, auction result, sale deed, treasury receipt or calculation for the ₹30,000-crore figure.
The documented part is the 400-acre Gachibowli dispute. A Supreme Court record confirms G.O.Ms. No. 54, dated June 26, 2024, concerning alienation of the land to TGIIC. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said it was a transfer between government entities, not a completed sale. The Court’s April 3, 2025 order dealt with alleged tree-felling and permissions, not ₹30,000 crore in sale proceeds.
So the demand is simple: produce the parcel-by-parcel ledger. Until then, the Congress government has offered an explanation, while the BRS has offered a number. Telangana needs the documents; the government has not bothered to publish them.
