The Telangana Prohibition & Excise Department transferred and promoted 562 officers on or around September 2, according to two reports. The exercise covered 17 Assistant Excise Superintendents, 250 Circle Inspectors and 295 Sub-Inspectors. C. Hari Kiran is the department’s Commissioner of Prohibition & Excise.
A report alleged that desirable postings were being allocated through unofficial payments, including claimed ₹10 lakh advances. It also referred to “six collection counters” and alleged proceeds of more than ₹200 crore. Those claims are attributed to unnamed department sources. No payment record, named whistleblower, FIR, inquiry report or official transfer-order document was available to verify them.
The department had earlier published a transfer framework involving eligibility lists, employee options and compliance checks. The actual September orders, the applicable cadre-wise rules and the department’s response to the allegations have not been made available in the material reviewed. Telangana has the reshuffle.
