70,000 jobs claimed, 1 lakh promised, records missing
The Congress government says it filled 70,000 government jobs. Its own one-lakh deadline passed in June, while the department-wise evidence needed to check both claims remains unpublished.

The Congress government in Telangana completed 1,000 days in office on September 1. Its jobs arithmetic is less complete than its anniversary programme: the government says 70,000 posts were filled, while Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had promised one lakh government jobs by June 2026.
The original Congress Youth Declaration promised two lakh government jobs in the first year and an annual calendar of vacancies by June 2, with recruitment completed by September 17. The government released a job calendar in August 2024, but the available report does not show category-wise vacancy numbers.
The Telangana State Portal records the Chief Minister saying, “In just 30 months, we filled 70,000 government jobs.” A BJP spokesperson, NV Subhash, questioned why the one-lakh target had not been reached and said people deserved “answers, not celebrations”. The criticism comes through a single syndicated report; the government’s public record does not yet provide department-wise notifications, appointment orders, joining figures or the method behind 70,000. The deadline has passed. The audit trail is still apparently on the way.
