Andhra’s teacher row gets a police barricade

The Andhra Pradesh teacher-recruitment dispute now has two unanswered files: the DSC-2025 allegations, and the police decision to stop a protest about them. Both remain unfinished.
YSRCP leaders and candidates have alleged irregularities including unexplained merit-list changes, access to sensitive recruitment stages, sports-quota appointments and candidates allegedly being called for verification but left out later. These claims have not been established by an inquiry or court. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has sought a CBI probe and questioned the handling of candidate P Naveen’s case. The TDP government says the recruitment used encrypted systems, restricted access, randomised papers and multiple sessions, and that no merit-list deletions occurred. Education Minister Nara Lokesh has defended the process.
For September 21, NTR police denied permission for YSRCP dharnas and rallies, citing prohibitory orders, Vinayaka immersion arrangements, traffic concerns, limited personnel and a policy against rallies in the VIP zone. The police also warned of cases and arrests for violations. The relevant written orders, the party’s application and deployment records were not available in the material reviewed. Andhra’s government has supplied assurances; the records that would test them are still waiting outside the VIP zone.
