BJP finds 1,000 betrayals, budget finds allocations
The Telangana BJP’s charge-sheet is a political claim. The state’s own records show schemes, orders and budget lines — not proof that every promise was fulfilled or broken.
The charge-sheet and the budget documents make different kinds of claims.
The Telangana BJP has released a document titled “1000 Days of Betrayal”, accusing the Congress government of failing to deliver its six guarantees and 420 election promises. BJP Legislature Party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy described them as “1,000 lies and 1,000 betrayals”. That establishes what the BJP said, not that its arithmetic has survived an audit.
The public record is less theatrical. The state’s 2026-27 Budget in Brief allocates Rs 18,000 crore for Rythu Bharosa, Rs 14,861 crore for Cheyutha, Rs 5,500 crore for Indiramma Houses, Rs 4,305 crore for Mahalakshmi and Rs 2,080 crore for Gruha Jyothi. The government’s 2024 budget material also says Rs 6,035 crore was transferred to 11.34 lakh farmers in the first crop-loan-waiver phase, with Rs 12,000 crore waived across the first two phases.
That does not prove complete delivery. It does prove that “nothing happened” is doing more work than the documents allow. The BJP’s claims on excluded farmers, housing construction, fee-reimbursement dues and current scheme coverage still need department-level records. The Congress government has not publicly answered this charge-sheet in the material reviewed; the BJP, meanwhile, has published a verdict before supplying the audit trail. Telangana needs the spreadsheet, not another slogan.
